The PPD Beach2Battleship is an internationally recognized iron distance and half iron distance triathlon. Competitors from around the country and the world have traveled to the Wilmington, N.C. area to enjoy everything this world famous waterfront destination has to offer and to experience a competition Triathlete Magazine named as one of the top 5 iron distance triathlons in the world.
PPD, an international clinical research organization, supports the event as its title sponsor to educate the public on the vital role of clinical research and participation in clinical trials to deliver new medicines to improve health and save lives, and to support the local community. All of the event's net proceeds are contributed to the Wilmington Family YMCA.

6/28/2010 - PPD to Sponsor Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon
PPD, Inc. (Nasdaq: PPDI) announced today it will serve as title sponsor of the third annual Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon, an internationally recognized competition to be held in Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington, N.C., on November 13, 2010. The event has been renamed the PPD Beach2Battleship Triathlon.
With more than 5,000 people expected to attend, the triathlon provides PPD an opportunity to educate spectators, participants and the public about the importance of people participating in clinical trials and the vital role of clinical research in improving health and saving lives. All proceeds from the event benefit the Wilmington Family YMCA.

6/16/2010 - B2B HALF 2010 - General Entry Closed
After reaching general entry capacity the B2B Half event has opened 50 Charity Slots. These entries gain you immediate entry into the event with all proceeds of the slot going directly the Wilmington Family YMCA's We Build People Campaign. Simply click the REGISTER FOR EVENT button at the upper right corner of this page to register using these Charity Slots. There will not be a wait list for this event. Closer to the event we will re open the event to fill any refunded slots. More details will be posted here before those slots are re-opened.

There is a $10.00 fee for each non-USAT registrant.
Policies and Refunds
TRANSFER POLICY
Event entries are NOT transferrable between individuals, events or years. No exceptions will be made to this or any policy.
Individual entries may be changed to relay entries until November 1, 2010. The fee for this transfer is $175 if the new team members are not already registered for the event. If you are combining multiple individual registrations into one relay team, the fee for this transfer is $50. Deadline for any changes is November 1, 2010.
Athletes may transfer from the full iron distance event to the half iron distance until October 1, 2010. NO refunds will be given to those switching from the full to the half.
REFUND POLICY
50% of your entry fee will be refunded until August 1, 2010. No refunds will be issued for any reason after August 1, 2010. You must use the link below to request you refund no later than August 1, 2010.

Event Capacity
This event is limited to the first 1600 registrations (800 in the Full and 800 in the Half).
USAT Sanctioned
PPD Beach2Battleship is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.
Cut off Times
All participants must complete the event within 17 hours of the start of the swim. Individual discipline cut off times are seen below and are listed as cummulative times from the start of the swim. Event officials reserve the right to pull any athlete from the course if it appears he/ she will not complete the event within the posted cut off times.
Swim: 2 hours 20 minutes
Bike: 10 hours 15 minutes
Run: 17 Hours 00 minutes
Medical Form
The medical form is mandatory and must be filled out and turned in in order to get your event packet. Please download the form and bring it with you to packet pick up. You may find this form on the FAQ section of this web site under the Medical section.
Minimum Age
The minimum age allowed for participation in PPD Beach2Battleship is 18 years of age.
Timing System
PPD Beach2Battleship will be timed using the ChampionChip Tming System.
